Amigos, if you know me, you know that my favorite place to clean in the home is the bathroom. Previously, I gave you a step-by-step guide on cleaning a bathroom. Today, I would like to go into more details, specifically on how to clean each of the bathroom fixtures. It is an area that often gets overlooked—those faucets, shower-heads, and towel rails that are not only functional but can elevate the look of your bathroom. Today, I’ll share my trusted tips to keep your fixtures shining and bacteria-free.

How to clean bathroom fixtures

1. Faucets
Wipe faucets daily with a microfiber cloth to prevent water spots. For deeper cleaning, spray a mix of equal parts vinegar and water, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and scrub gently with a toothbrush. Avoid abrasive tools to keep your fixtures scratch-free.

2. Shower screens
Reduce soap scum by using a squeegee after every shower. For tough spots, spray a vinegar-water solution or use a paste of baking soda and water. Rinse thoroughly to prevent streaks, and your screens will sparkle.

3. Bathtubs and shower trays
Rinse after each use with warm soapy water. For clogged drains, sprinkle baking soda, follow with vinegar, let it fizz, and flush with boiling water. This keeps your drains clear and odor-free.

4. Shower heads
Wipe down your shower head after every use. For mineral buildup, soak it in a 1:1 mix of vinegar and water for an hour, then scrub with a toothbrush. Finish by rinsing thoroughly.

5. Shower caddies and niches
Remove all items and spray with an all-purpose cleaner. Wipe dry to prevent moisture buildup, and use vinegar or lime remover for any hard water stains. Keep your storage spaces clean to avoid mold and mildew.

6. Towel rails
Dust towel rails weekly with a microfiber cloth. For tougher spots, use a mild detergent and water. If rust appears, apply a baking soda paste, let it sit, and scrub gently with a sponge or cloth.

7. Sinkholes
Hair and soap scum often clog sink drains. Clear them out with a sink plunger or drain snake regularly. For a deeper clean, pour baking soda into the drain, add vinegar, let it fizz, and flush with boiling water.

Bathroom fixtures deserve as much care as any other part of your home. Keeping them clean not only enhances their appearance but also ensures they function well for years to come. Remember, a little effort every week goes a long way. ¡Hasta luego, amigos! Keep your bathrooms shining.
